The European Commission body established to implement and supervise the EU AI Act, with particular responsibility for general-purpose AI models.

Its role in AI governance

The AI Office is central to enforcing the EU AI Act. It oversees providers of general-purpose AI models, develops codes of practice and guidance, and coordinates with national authorities on supervision and enforcement across the single market. It is the focal point for the Act's rules on the most capable, systemic-risk models.
