Australian Securities and Investments Commission

Australia's corporate, markets, financial services, and consumer credit regulator, enforcing the Corporations Act and financial services licensing obligations.

Its role in AI governance

ASIC's position is that existing licensing and conduct obligations already apply to AI use by financial services and credit licensees — including the obligations to act efficiently, honestly, and fairly, and to maintain adequate risk-management systems. ASIC has reviewed AI adoption among licensees and signalled that directors and licensees remain accountable for AI-assisted decisions.
